Corporate responsibility
At Hewitsons we care about the impact we have on the communities and environment in which we work and live. We are aware that the way we manage our business can have an impact across many communities both locally and regionally.
We are determined to make an effective response to the problem of climate change and other environmental concerns and encourage efficiency, recycling and a reduction of waste amongst all staff and our suppliers.
Many of our lawyers give their time to provide legal advice for those who could not otherwise afford it and volunteer at many of the charity clients we work for, with our support.
Each year we are heavily involved in organizing the Chariots of Fire race held in Cambridge. The race is now an institution, and we're very proud to be associated with it. The event recreates the famous race from the film Chariots of Fire, inspired by the winning British Olympic team of 1924.
It takes place in the city centre, with teams of six runners following a route that takes in three Cambridge colleges: King's, Clare and Trinity, and other famous landmarks in the city. Over two and a half thousand runners take part and raise money for a nominated local charity which changes every year the race is held.
For 2008 the recipient charities are Romsey Mill and the Red Balloon Learner Centre.
