Living Wills
A Living Will is not a Will at all. Rather it is a statement made by someone aged 18 or over with the requisite level of understanding, setting out what should happen if and when they become incapable of making their own healthcare decisions. It is usually made in order to direct that life sustaining treatment should not be given in the event of terminal illness and incapacity. A Living Will is also known as an advance decision, advance medical decision or advance directive.
