Overview:

Gareth is a Partner and heads the Northampton Agricultural and Rural Business Team. Gareth advises agricultural estates, farmers and other property owners on property and agricultural matters. Gareth also specialises in advising charities on property related matters.

Experience:

Gareth acts in estate and farm sales and purchases. He also advises landowners on disposals of land for development; negotiating options, consortium agreements and planning/promotion agreements.

Gareth advises on estate management and landlord and tenant issues. Gareth specialises in agricultural holdings legislation and also advises on commercial and residential tenancies.

Gareth is familiar with the Single Payment Scheme and other agri environmental schemes and advises on those schemes, in particular advising on issues arising on sales of land or the grant of a tenancy.

Gareth specialises in acting in renewable energy schemes, in particular on wind farms. Gareth has acted for over thirty different consortia of landowners in negotiating options and other agreements associated with wind farm developments.

Gareth also acts for charities in the disposal and acquisition of properties and estate management matters.

Background:

Gareth read Law at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth before completing his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Chester. He trained at Burges Salmon in Bristol, qualifying in 1997 and immediately specialised in agricultural property work. Gareth joined Hewitsons in 2002 and was made a partner in 2003.
