Overview:
Simon is a partner in the Cambridge Technology Team. He also heads up the firm's well-regarded Life Science Team.
Experience:
Simon advises clients on a full range of commercial and intellectual property matters including licensing, research and development, manufacturing and distribution agreements. Many of his clients are in the technology sector but he advises other sectors also. He also advises life science companies on clinical trials and other regulatory issues. He is listed as recommended for life sciences in the PLC Cross-Border Handbook for leading lawyers worldwide. He is co-author of the business textbooks "Commercial Issues for Life Science Companies" and "Intellectual Property: The Life-blood of your Company" and regularly lectures on commercial and intellectual properties issues in the UK and mainland Europe. He also sits on the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee of the Bio-Industry Association.
Background:
Simon read Classics at Oxford University and converted to law after some years working in the publishing sector. He began his legal career in London (including a stint in-house in the petrol chemical industry) and joined Hewitsons in December 1997.
