Overview:

Lorna specialises in construction law including resolving disputes connected to the construction industry and drafting the documentation required for developments of all sizes. 

Experience:

Lorna is experienced in dealing with disputes across the entire industry including between main contractors and subcontractors, commercial/domestic clients and contractors as well as construction professionals (e.g. architects, structural engineers) and their clients.  This includes professional negligence claims. 

Lorna has assisted clients using alternative dispute resolution methods of negotiation and mediation as well as the construction industry’s most popular form of dispute resolution, adjudication. Lorna also advises on the more traditional methods of Court action and arbitration.  

In regard to non-contentious matters, Lorna advises in on the construction documentation required for developments including drafting building contracts, professional appointments and collateral warranties where she find her experience in litigation supports the specialist nature of this documentation.

Lorna has recently concluded a successful adjudication which settled within days of the Referral being served where the client had being previously requesting payment to no avail for some 12 months.

Lorna is our key contact for Hewitsons’ helpline for members of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) Eastern Region and is legal advisor to the FMB Eastern Region disciplinary panel. Lorna is a regular contributor to the FMB Eastern Region E-zine.
