Overview:

Valerie is a solicitor in the Cambridge employment law team. She advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious areas of employment law.

Experience:

Valerie works with clients across the spectrum of employment law issues. Her contentious experience includes High Court claims for breach of contract claims and she is particularly interested in restrictive covenant issues. She also advises on unfair dismissals and employment related discrimination in all areas. Valerie has dealt with complicated disability discrimination claims and also advised on disability discrimination in relation to goods and services.

Valerie's non-contentious experience includes working on TUPE transfers, advising on business reorganisations and redundancies, drafting Directors Service Agreements together with standard contracts of employment as well as drafting company policies in relation to legislative requirements. Valerie also advises on the variation of terms and conditions of employment, the conduct of employees including capability issues and disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Background:

Valerie read English Literature at London University and worked in sales and marketing for Whitbread prior to undertaking the College of Law Common Professional Exam and Legal Practice Course. She trained as a solicitor at Hewitsons in Cambridge, qualifying into their employment team in September 2004. Valerie has also subsequently obtained a Masters in Employment Law from Norwich University.
