Overview:

Carolyn Bagley represents the firm's Private Client Section in Milton Keynes and works closely with her many Private Client colleagues, particularly those in Northampton.

Experience:

Carolyn advises individuals (including business owners), and Trustees. She has extensive experience of:Tax Planning, (particularly using Trusts and Wills);Trust Creation and Management; Probate and Intestacy Administration (including business property,agricultural property, foreign assets and heritage property and mitigating tax through non-domicile claims, and equitable/constructive trust claims); Deeds of Variation of Wills; and Powers of Attorney. On pension trusts, she has assisted her pension team colleagues in interpreting trust issues and dealing with the effect of the death of  pension scheme members.  She has also dealt with Protection issues, including applications for Statutory Wills and gifts/variations to be made on behalf of incapacitated clients.

Background:

Carolyn read Jurisprudence at Worcester College, Oxford and qualified as a solicitor in 1985, spending 25 years with Shoosmiths, mostly as a Partner, before joining Hewitsons as a Partner in 2010. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Private Client Section of the Law Society. She is a Past President of the Northamptonshire Law Society and Junior Chamber (where her team enjoyed several years as national 4-person debating champions). She has used her experience to present many seminars, to hold live radio phone-ins and to write the answers for both local and national newspaper legal question columns.
