You have to have some sympathy for economists charged with gazing into the crystal ball of the UK's future economic performance. It is not easy. At the end of last year, theTreasury forecast collated a range of growth predictions for 2011 of between 0.9 and 3.1 per cent, RPI of between 2.4 and 4.6 per cent, a current account deficit of between £5.8 and £51.6 billion, and public sector net borrowing in a range of £82 billion to £146 billion.
