Businesses to have a say in Local Development Plans
18 May 2011
Amendments have been tabled to the Localism Bill which mean that businesses will have a say in the preparation of Local Development Plans. The amendments mean that a Neighbourhood Forum,(the body which may propose a plan) may have, among its purposes, the promotion of trades, professions or other businesses in the area to which they relate as well as the furthering of the social and economic well-being of the people who live there. They may have among their members not only people who live in the area but also people who work in the area. Groups which have both and have purposes which reflect the character of the area are more likely to be designated as a Neighbourhood Forum than those which are single interest groups.
Central Milton Keynes has been identified as one of the areas which will pilot the new business led plans.
