Construction team bring about speedy resolution to £30,000 claim

An Essex-based construction company was beginning to despair that it would ever recoup a claim for more than £30,000.

But after speaking to Hewitsons’ Construction team on the Federation of Master Builders telephone helpline, the situation quickly improved.

During the initial free telephone consultation it became clear that the debtor had been ignoring claims for payment for nearly a year. Hewitsons immediately sent a letter to the debtor to make the claim and shortly after the debtor appointed a solicitor and notified the purported defence to the claim.

Hewitsons swiftly obtained statements from key witnesses and a notice of intention to refer the dispute to adjudication was sent to the debtor resulting in a settlement being concluded promptly with substantial payment being received by the client and adjudicator’s fees paid in full by the debtor.
