Hewitsons CleanTech Group

From wind farms to residential energy microgeneration projects, our CleanTech Group provides specialist advice to developers, energy generators, land and property owners, manufacturers and suppliers of related technologies as well as others engaged in the fast developing energy sector. The Group includes lawyers providing property, planning, environment, construction and commercial law expertise who are experienced in providing advice in this area.

2011 Case studies:

The Group has been advising a national contractor in regard to a UK wide EcoSchools project relating to the supply, installation and long term maintenance of solar powered energy generation systems. Advice provided included the formation of a series of special purposes companies to undertake the acquisition of equipment from a number of European manufacturers and putting in place agreements with external project finance providers, with sub-contractor installers and with clients for the product.

Members of the Group have been advising land owner clients on the construction of small scale wind farms including two or three wind turbines. Advice provided has included to negotiate terms with the manufacturers of the turbines, advise on planning agreements, property matters, on contracts with the District Network Operators, Grid connection agreements, agreements for the application of subsidies from the Feed In Tariff, as well as long term maintenance and operation agreements.

The Group acts for a European manufacturer and supplier of natural ventilation and PVU based systems for use in commercial and domestic premises and advises on the sale and distribution of the client's products UK wide.

Advice has been provided to clients in regard to the establishment of roof top and ground based PVU energy generation systems, including agreements with the suppliers, installers and funders.

The Group is advising a network of Further Education Colleges in regard to a package of renewable energy measures and systems, including the agreements with the funders, suppliers and long term operators, the sharing of costs and income from the energy generated.
