Our Agricultural Team is exceptionally busy and expanding at Cambridge.  We act for families with whom we have acted for generations, as well as national charities with very significant rural land holdings.

This business sector requires exceptionally capable lawyers who can deal with a range of transactional property work including transactions involving unregistered land, and who are able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of the very particular approach to the clients in this business sector.

Given the complexity of the work, successful candidates are likely to have around 8 - 10 years PQE.

The ability to delegate appropriately and to supervise, is essential. Business development activity at this level of appointee is a key part of the role.

Property Development Lawyer
Northampton

We have a great opportunity for a NQ+ Property Development Lawyer in our Northampton office to work within an established and busy Commercial Property Team consisting of 2 Partners, 1 Legal Director and 3 Associates. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with our Agricultural Team on development projects and lawyers in the wider Commercial Property Team in our other three offices.

The Team acts for Landowners, Private Sector Developers and Promoters on all aspects of development work.

Training and support will be given but you will need to have initiative and the ability to manage a varied caseload. You will also need to work to deadlines.  This role sits within the Commercial Property Team but will have a focus on residential development work so previous experience of both site acquisition and plot disposal would be advantageous but is not essential.

Training Programme

Training Contracts are offered at Northampton and Cambridge, with possible placements in London and Milton Keynes. Trainees complete four placements of six months each in a range of different legal specialisms. During each seat, the trainee is supervised closely by a partner or senior solicitor, and progress is monitored on a day-to-day basis as well as in a formal three-monthly review, carried out mid-seat and at end of seat. The firm provides a comprehensive induction programme specifically tailored for the needs of trainee solicitors. The Professional Skills Course is coupled with an extensive programme of trainee solicitors' seminars provided by specialist in-house lawyers.
