Our Agricultural Team is exceptionally busy and expanding at both Northampton and Cambridge. We act families for whom we have acted for generations, as well as national charities with very significant rural land holdings.

This business sector requires exceptionally capable lawyers who can deal with a range of transactional property work including transactions involving unregistered land, and who are able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of the very particular approach to the clients in this business sector.

Given the complexity of the work, successful candidates are likely to have around 8 - 10 years PQE.

The ability to delegate appropriately and to supervise, is essential. Business development activity at this level of appointee is a key part of the role.

Private Wealth
Senior Associate – Possibly Partner Level
Northampton & Cambridge – Two Posts

Our Private Wealth Team is expanding at both Northampton and Cambridge. We act for a range of clients including in particular, high net worth clients who require advice on complex matters relating to tax planning and dealing with very large estates often involving a range of complex issues financial and family issues.

The firm is Platinum STEP accredited, a quality mark which only a few firms have achieved, and all our lawyers are STEP qualified or working towards that qualification.

The complexity of the work and the nature of our client base means that the successful candidates will be likely to have around 8-10 years PQE in Private Wealth and able to demonstrate an excellent academic record in advance of a training contract with a firm with a similar complex and high net worth client base and experience of practice in that type of firm since qualification. Business development activity is also a key part of the role.

Construction Law Team
Senior Solicitor
East Midlands- Milton Keynes

Hewitsons is seeking to add a Senior Solicitor to its East Midlands - Milton Keynes Construction Law Team. We have a leading reputation as advisers on construction procurement, contracts, professional appointments, development agreements and all forms of construction related dispute resolution.

With a solid reputation in the regions in which we work and with the recent addition of a base in the City of London, the work levels for the Team have grown. The level of expertise required and the nature of our client base means that the successful candidate will be likely to have around 4 – 6 years PQE and be able to demonstrate an excellent academic record in advance of a training contract with a firm with at least a similar profile to ours and with relevant experience since qualification. The Team works for clients nation wide, concentrating on the East Midlands and Milton Keynes areas and so the position could be one based in either of our offices in that region.

Agriculture 
PA/Legal Secretary
Cambridge

Hewitsons is seeking a PA/Legal Secretary to join their busy Agriculture Business Unit at the Cambridge office.

The successful candidate must have exellent PA skills, a good attitude to work and an enthusiasm to do a good job.  Legal experience especially in Property would be advantageous.

This is a full time role, working 35 hours per week, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Training Contract – September 2021

Training Programme

Training Contracts are offered at Northampton and Cambridge, with placements in London and Milton Keynes. Trainees complete four placements of six months each in a range of different legal specialisms. During each seat, the trainee is supervised closely by a partner or senior solicitor, and progress is monitored on a day-to-day basis as well as in a formal three-monthly review, carried out mid-seat and at end of seat. The firm provides a comprehensive induction programme specifically tailored for the needs of trainee solicitors. The Professional Skills Course is coupled with an extensive programme of trainee solicitors' seminars provided by specialist in-house lawyers.
