Legal firm Hewitsons has played a key role in the sale of vehicle services provider C Walton Ltd (CWL) by the Walton family to Cox Automotive UK Limited (Cox) in what is its biggest UK takeover to date.
The multi-department deal involved a number of lawyers from across the firm’s different specialist units at its Northampton and Cambridge offices and was led by partner David Browne (corporate) assisted by Neil Harpham, Anne-Sophie Reynolds and Motunrayo Adeeyo (corporate), Marc Carter (commercial property), Nick Hall (employment), Chris Nuttall (pension), Kevin Fletcher (commercial), Gemma Dudley and Karen Luxton-Walsh (environment), and Clare Colacicchi and Katherine Hague (private wealth).
As part of the deal, Cox acquired CWL’s vehicle services business which operates from three locations - in Bruntingthorpe (Leicestershire), Wyton (Cambridgeshire) and Long Bennington (Lincolnshire). The deal also includes CWL’s proving ground and events businesses.
CWL offers an extensive range of fleet management and vehicle services on a mass scale, including new and used car vehicle preparation and reconditioning, defleet services including inspections and MOT, logistics and storage, as well as full support for electric vehicle handling.
