Hewitsons partner Dominic Hopkins has participated in a significant initiative that will benefit serving and former members of the Armed Forces in the Northamptonshire community.
As part of his role as the Under Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Dominic was invited to attend a ceremony on 4th March 2013 to create the 'Northampton Borough Armed Forces Community Covenant'. This new agreement aims to encourage the local community to support serving and former members of the Armed Forces, and to increase understanding of the issues that face members of the Armed Forces community.
The event, at which Dominic represented Mr John Townsend (High Sheriff of Northamptonshire), included a speech by Cllr David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, as well as a response by Lt Col Alison Falcon, 49 Bde Representative for Northamptonshire, before Dominic, with civic leaders from the town and county, signed the Covenant in front of an audience of community representatives.
Commenting Dominic said: "I was truly honoured to be involved in the Northampton Community Covenant. We owe so much to the Armed Forces and this agreement is about pledging our support and commitment to them in our local community."
Measures within the agreement include additional priority given to ex-Armed services personnel with regards to council housing and the release of funding.
