Hewitsons were once again the proud sponsor of the business innovation category at the Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards on 22 March 2012.
This year saw PneumaCare walk away with the prestigious Business Innovation title, being praised for its amazing and ground-breaking non-contact chest scanning technology, which could replace traditional invasive methods. PneumaCare’s system works by shining a light onto someone’s chest, with a grid-like pattern over the lens; medics can then see how well the person is breathing. The technology was developed in response to a request from specialists at Papworth, for a way of testing the breathing of tiny babies who were too small to be tested via existing methods.
John Dix, Managing Partner at Hewitsons in Cambridge, said: “Having been the proud sponsor of these awards from the very beginning, we have witnessed some incredible, innovative winners and PneumaCare is certainly no exception with its pioneering technology. As a firm we consistently admire and strive for innovation and would like to congratulate PneumaCare on this award win.
“With our local knowledge we have helped businesses, like PneumaCare, to develop and exploit ground-breaking ideas that make the world a better place and continue to keep this region at the forefront of innovation. Long may that continue.”
The Business Excellence Awards have been running for 19 years and this year’s awards were hosted by Olympic javelin thrower, Steve Backley.
