A solicitor within Hewitsons’ Intellectual Property team in Cambridge is celebrating success after passing the Oxford University Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice with distinction. Kostyantyn Lobov, who trained at Hewitsons and qualified in 2010, was awarded distinction for his excellent level of attainment in the postgraduate course. The year-long diploma covered a full range of IP subjects including patents, trade-marks, unfair competition and passing off, trade secrets, designs, copyright and moral rights, as well as key aspects of litigious and non-litigious IP practice and procedure. The diploma was assessed through five written assignments and two two-hour written exams. John Dix, Managing Partner at Hewitsons, said: “Huge congratulations to Kostyantyn on this highly commendable achievement. Last year just 7.4% of students achieved a distinction merit in this course, which illustrates what an achievement this is for him and for Hewitsons as a firm.” Working within the Intellectual Property team, Kostyantyn specialises in disputes involving patents, trade-marks, passing off, copyright and design rights. Kostyantyn also advises on issues relating to confidentiality, domain names and anti-counterfeiting.
