Hewitsons is delighted to be a supporter of the Cambridge regional division of the Society of Construction Law which organises talks and events on legal topics of relevance to the construction and property industry.

Colin Jones, Hewitsons Managing Partner and a partner in the Hewitsons Construction Law Team is regional co-ordinator for the SCL and will chair a talk to be held on 12 March 2015 to be given by Samuel Townend, a leading barrister with Keating Chambers.

The topic will be ‘Duty to Warn - whose job is it?’ and the talk is intended for lawyers and non lawyers such as consultants who administer construction contracts or who advise on related financial claims.

In the talk Samuel will trace the history of a contractor’s duty to warn of dangers and defects in regard to construction project and look at the legal position as it applies up to date. He will also examine how the duty to warn applies to construction professionals and give consideration to whether owners, employers and others owe comparable duties in respect of dangerous structures and/or defects and to whom.

The talk will be on 12 March 2015 at 6.30pm at Botanic House, 100 Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 1PH (car parking available).
