What might Brexit mean for charities, voluntary organisations and wider civil society?
Later this month, Hewitsons partner Dominic Hopkins will be contributing to a discussion on the potential implications of Brexit for charities and voluntary organisations in Northamptonshire and beyond.
Dominic is one of a Panel drawn from academia, the third sector and local government for this public event organised by the University of Northampton. Chaired by BBC Radio Northampton presenter John Griff, the Panel will be considering how aspects of society may be affected by the developing Brexit story.
A member of the UK Constitutional Law Association, Dominic comments: “Peeling the practicalities away from the highly charged politics of Brexit is no easy task, but the fact is, our departure from the EU is going to affect us all – for good or ill - and being prepared for the changes ahead is terribly important. With a focus on charities and the voluntary sector, this ‘Brexit and Civil Society’ event is aimed at increasing understanding of the issues affecting the region. I am very much looking forward to hearing everyone’s contributions on the day and the University is to be commended for an initiative that stems from the sound philosophy that we are better prepared if we better understand”.
