Clare Waller

Overview
Clare is a partner in the employment team and advises a full range of clients on all aspects of employment law.
Experience
Clare advises employers of all sizes and industries as well as senior executives in relation to both contentious and non contentious aspects of employment law. She has particular experience of and interest in advising clients within the construction industry. Her advice ranges from the provision of ongoing support for disciplinary and grievance procedures and performance management processes to drafting contracts of employment and staff handbooks to representing clients in Employment Tribunal claims or civil court disputes to the provision of training on any aspect of employment law. She has experience of successfully fighting complex discrimination claims both at first instance and in the appeal courts.
Background
Clare read Law at the University of Reading and achieved distinction in the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, Guildford. She subsequently obtained a Masters Degree from the University of East Anglia in 2006. Clare trained at HRJ Law LLP in Hitchin and qualified in 1999, becoming a Partner in 2002. She joined Hewitsons in 2010.

Clare is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. Clare is a Recommended Lawyer in the Legal 500 Client’s Guide to the Legal Profession 2019 and a leading individual in the Chambers and Partners Guide to the Legal System 2015, where she was singled out for her level of business acumen, her ability to convey complex issues to clients simply and to address commercial issues head-on.
