Colin Jones is a partner in the firm's Construction team and a member of a number of its focus groups, including Charity, Education, Sports and CleanTech Groups.
Colin is a highly experienced legal adviser, acting for developers, contractors, design and construction professionals, construction product manufacturers, funders and occupiers. He acts for UK and European, public and private sector, charity and education clients and has a growing client base in the CleanTech and renewable energy sector. He advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters and in regard to all aspects of UK and European procurement law. A long standing element of his practice is advising businesses operating in the clean tech and sustainable construction market, including UK and European based manufacturers and suppliers, as well as contractors and consultants. Colin is a member of Hewitsons' CleanTech Group which advises businesses and clients involved in solar power, wind turbine and other forms of green energy systems. The Construction Team at Hewitsons has a leading reputation for advice to the property, construction services and construction products market. From dispute resolution to advice on the procurement of commercial, residential and infrastructure projects, the team has won plaudits for its effective and pragmatic approach to meeting the objectives of clients. Colin has drafted a series of standard form consultant appointments for the Association of Consultant Architects and the British Institute of Interior Design. He sits on the Procurement Reform Group of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Colin is an adviser to the Sports and Play Construction Association. He is a Council member of the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry and a member of the Cambridge Interact Club of property and construction professionals. Colin sits as a Governor of St Mary’s School, Cambridge. He undertakes training on contract law at the University of Cambridge School.
