Katherine Hague

Partner (TEP), Head of Private Wealth Sector

Why choose me

Private client advice is unsurprisingly all about our clients. Getting to know my clients and their families, ensuring they get the right advice, and the right structures are in place to protect their estate is very rewarding.

I take the time to understand my clients’ particular circumstances, their families, their concerns and create tailored and practical solutions to meet their aims. My clients know if they need assistance, they can contact me and even if not within my area of expertise, I will liaise with my colleagues and other professionals to ensure they are well looked after.

Trusts and tax planning are often technical and complex, but I ensure these issues are easily understood and applied to clients’ particular circumstances to arrive at a practical solution. My clients include high net worth individuals, landowners, business owners, international clients, executors, trustees and beneficiaries of trusts.

I can offer professional help and advice in a wide range of areas, including tax and succession planning, family investment companies, preparation of wills, creation and administration of trusts, administration of complex estates and preparation of powers of attorney.

I’m a full member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and have completed STEP’s specialist advanced certificate in UK Tax for International Clients, achieving a distinction.

Outside of work, I love cooking and have a cookbook obsession which is getting out of hand. I also like to keep fit (to make up for all the cooking). I’m a keen swimmer, cyclist, hiker, and occasional triathlete.

Questions my clients ask me

There is no one size fits all solution, but many legitimate ways to reduce the value of your taxable estate. Get in touch and we can provide a strategy tailored to you and often, the sooner you start, the better.

In short, yes, no matter your age. Think of an LPA as an insurance policy, allowing you to appoint individuals to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to.

You cannot prevent nuisance claims. However, having a Will prepared by a professional, taking into account your circumstances and ensuring the provisions are defensible will greatly reduce the risks of a successful claim.
