Health and safety is often given a bad press in the media. It is however a fundamentally important area of protection for employees in (and often outside) the workplace.

Employment law reflects this importance, imposing severe civil and criminal punishments on businesses who fail to ensure the health and safety of its workforce and others such as visitors.

At Hewitsons, we advise businesses who have received Improvement and Prohibition Notices from enforcement agencies such as the Health and Safety Executive and Local Authorities, as well as businesses who receive invitations from these agencies for PACE Act interviews under caution.

Our employment lawyers also advise employers on claims brought by injured or ill employees and former employees, such as unfair and constructive unfair dismissal, as well as the procedures to follow when addressing the long term absences of employees who may have been made ill or been injured at the workplace.
