Policies & Regulation for Schools

Educational institutions often have three characteristics: education, charity and business. Each of these is regulated and must be run effectively.

We deal with the Department of Education and Education Funding Agency, HEFCE, the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, the Charity Commission and many regulators concerning operational issues including the Financial Conduct Authority and the Information Commissioner. Life is complex and we are here to navigate you through it.

We also draft, review and advise on policies. There can be around 70 policies required and having clarity in planning, drafting and reviewing these is essential. These include policies covering operational issues which may arise in any organisation, such as employment, social media, trustee or governor code of conduct, data protection, and discrimination. Policies also cover of course specific aspects of education and charity activities, including safeguarding, admissions, examinations, serious incidents, grant making and public benefit.

Some members of the team are or have been members of school and educational institution governing bodies. This provides excellent insight into the policies required and regulation surrounding them.
