Competition & State Aid
We have significant experience in advising on all aspects of the EU and UK competition law regimes, from EU block exemptions to the anti-trust rules applicable to mergers and acquisitions, and from public procurement rules to state aid issues. We can guide you through the legal, procedural and practical aspects of the EU competition law regime, and provide you with advice that helps achieve your commercial objectives. We are experienced in conducting competition litigation and in making written and oral submissions to competition authorities.
We advise public authorities and recipients on the state aid implications of the granting of assistance to businesses and other undertakings such as grant funding. This includes assistance with the application of any exemption from obtaining the authorisation of the European Commission. We have advised clients in a range of sectors including tourism, culture and science.
Where Counsel’s assistance is required, we have an arrangement in place with Monckton Chambers, a well-known set of specialist barristers’ chambers in London, which allows us to call on their services to assist on all matters involving EU/UK competition and state aid issues.
We also have close contacts with other firms throughout Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia – through LawExchange International – so we can help with the international aspects too.
